Freddie Freeman Walk-Off Ends 18-Inning Thriller as Dodgers Outlast Blue Jays in Epic World Series Marathon

This is why October baseball reigns supreme. Six hours and 39 minutes of drama, sweat, and pure will — and when it finally ended, Freddie Freeman stood tall under the bright lights of Dodger Stadium, launching a solo home run in the 18th inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 6–5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3 of the World Series.

It was an instant classic — tied for the longest postseason game ever — filled with twists, missed chances, and a showcase of everything that makes playoff baseball so addicting.

🔥 Ohtani’s Historic Night

Shohei Ohtani etched his name into MLB history once again, reaching base nine times — a postseason record. He smashed two home runs, two doubles, and walked five times (four intentionally), putting the Blue Jays’ pitchers through absolute chaos.

“He’s a unicorn. There are no more adjectives left,” said Freeman. “A once-in-a-10-generational player.”

Despite Ohtani’s dominance, Toronto held leads of 4–2 in the fourth and 5–4 in the seventh before the game spiraled into a war of attrition.

💪 Blue Jays Fight to the End

Alejandro Kirk gave Toronto life early with a three-run blast off Tyler Glasnow, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette each had clutch RBI moments. But missed opportunities haunted them late — stranded runners in the 9th, 10th, 12th, and 18th innings ultimately sealed their fate.

The loss grew heavier when George Springer exited in the seventh with an apparent side injury after fouling off a pitch. His MRI results are pending.

“We grinded. Battled our tails off. Tired as hell,” said infielder Ernie Clement. “They just outlasted us.”

⚾ What’s Next

The Dodgers now lead the best-of-seven series 2–1, with Ohtani back on the mound Tuesday night against Shane Bieber.

Toronto manager John Schneider was quick to remind his team — and everyone watching — that this marathon loss doesn’t define their run:

“The Dodgers didn’t win the World Series today. They won a game. Our guys will be ready to go.”
