In the 81kg weight class, Neisi Dajomes brought pride to Ecuador with an outstanding performance, setting a new Pan American record in the snatch with 121kg. She continued with 141kg in the clean and jerk, achieving an Olympic total of 262kg and securing three gold medals for her country. Despite battling injuries throughout 2023, Dajomes expressed joy at her success and her near-complete recovery. However, her participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics remains uncertain, as her fellow competitor, Tamara Salazar, a top contender in the same weight class, was sidelined by injury during the Pan American Championship. The final decision on who will represent Ecuador in Paris will be determined at the Phuket World Cup, where Dajomes and Salazar will compete for the sole spot available. This World Cup, scheduled from March 31 to April 11, is the last chance for athletes to qualify for the Olympic Games.
