Typically cautious, Grijalba traveled with his wife for a New Year’s vacation in Europe, where she posted revealing photos at iconic locations like the Eiffel Tower and London Bridge. These posts led the DEA and the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to locate and apprehend him on December 29 under an international arrest warrant. Grijalba is contesting extradition to the U.S., as Costa Rica rarely honors U.S. deportation requests. His wife has since deleted her Instagram account.
