One of the biggest legends in Spanish-language television is heading back to Univision.

Don Francisco, the legendary Chilean television host whose real name is Mario Kreutzberger, will return with a new program called “GIGANTES con Don Francisco,” set to premiere this October.

The new show will bring back some of the ingredients that made Don Francisco a household name across Latin America and among Latino families in the United States and Canada.

Each episode will focus on an influential Latin personality, featuring conversations about their life, career and cultural impact. The show will also include musical performances, surprise reunions with family and friends, a live band and even opportunities for contestants to win cash and cars.

Don Francisco has already said he would love to interview some of today’s biggest Latin stars, including Bad Bunny, Shakira and Luis Miguel.

The Legacy of Sábado Gigante

For millions of Latino families, Don Francisco will forever be associated with “Sábado Gigante.”

The iconic variety show began in Chile in 1962 before eventually becoming a fixture on Univision in the United States. It combined celebrity interviews, live music, comedy, competitions, audience participation and unforgettable characters.

“Sábado Gigante” eventually became the longest-running television variety show hosted by the same presenter, lasting 53 years before airing its final episode in 2015.

Now, more than a decade after saying goodbye to the show that made him an icon, Don Francisco is coming home to Univision.

“GIGANTES con Don Francisco” will air on Univision, with full episodes available on ViX the following day. An exact premiere date and the first guests are expected to be announced soon.

For generations who grew up hearing “¡Sábado Gigante!” every weekend, this comeback is going to hit differently.
