Daddy Yankee sold some of his master recordings to Cinq Music and a financial partner around 2021. This deal enables Cinq Music to reissue his 2004 album Barrio Fino and five other albums on vinyl later this year. Although specific details of the purchase were not disclosed, multiple sources confirmed the sale. Daddy Yankee retains ownership of his publishing catalog, managed globally by Sony Music Publishing and in the U.S. by Spirit Music.

Cinq Music, which has a history of working with Daddy Yankee and other high-profile artists, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Barrio Fino and his hit “Gasolina” with a Bhangra remix and various vinyl reissues. Barrio Fino, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart and won a Latin Grammy, remains a significant work in reggaetón music history.
