BARRIO (CBR) – The Flash’s Supergirl gets the official Barbie treatment as Sashe Calle’s Woman of Steel joins Mattel’s iconic range of toys.

Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, as seen in The Flash, is making a name for herself in the world of Barbie toys.

Per Mattel, the first Latina Supergirl has been immortalized as an official Barbie doll that will be released as merchandise for the upcoming DC Universe film. The toy itself includes the character’s iconic red and blue suit which features Kara Zor-El’s symbolic S-shield and a billowing red cape. The Supergirl Barbie comes in unique packaging that display’s Calle’s hero midflight and features her live-action inspiration on the reverse side.

Beyond being a faithful rendition of The Flash‘s Supergirl, this Barbie also sets up Kara’s role in the blockbuster. The toy’s description notes that she originally arrives on Earth as she searches for “a missing Kryptonian” but she is ultimately captured and imprisoned, having her powers drained. This prompts Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) and seemingly Batman (Michael Keaton) to stage a breakout, liberating her so that the world can stand a chance against the invading might of General Zod.

While Supergirl has been a standout DC hero for decades, The Flash is breaking new ground by having Kara Zor-El played by a Latina actor. Calle has publically addressed the importance of this kind of representation in media, noting that she hopes her portrayal in the film will mean a great deal to people. “There was a moment when we were shooting when Andy [Muschietti, director] was like, ‘Hey, come over here and watch this scene on the playback monitor.’ And I go over and I see her [Supergirl], and she’s in her full glory. And suddenly, I got really emotional,” Calle said. “Because I’m looking at that, and I’m like, ‘Wow, I wish I would have had this when I was little.'”
