Chilean Organizations in Toronto unite for Wildfire Relief Fundraiser

The Chilean community in Toronto, deeply moved by the unprecedented devastation caused by the wildfires ravaging Chile, has come together to organize a fundraising event to provide much-needed support to the affected regions. The wildfires, which the United Nations disaster agency has described as the deadliest in Chile’s history, have claimed at least 130 lives, with hundreds still missing.

The fires, which have engulfed large parts of central, and southern Chile but most critically the Valparaiso region, have left thousands homeless, turning entire neighbourhoods to ash. The magnitude of this tragedy cannot be overstated, and urgent action is needed to assist those affected by this disaster.

Working with the Chilean General Consulate of Toronto this coalition of Chilean organizations in Toronto, including Chile Unido, La Escuela, and Casa Salvador Allende Toronto (CASAT), are rallying to raise funds for wildfire relief efforts in solidarity and compassion. The fundraising event, scheduled for February 16th, will allow the Toronto community to stand in solidarity with the people of Chile and contribute to the relief efforts.

This is considered the “biggest tragedy” since the devastating 2010 earthquake. As the death toll continues to rise and hundreds remain missing, the need for support from the international community has never been greater.

Details of the Fundraising Event:

Date: February 16th

Time: 5:00pm – 2:00am

Location: Alliance Banquet Hall, 501 Alliance Ave, Toronto, Ontario

Activities: This family event is filled with Music, Dance, and food, raffle.

Tickets: $10 payable at the door. 100% of the proceeds will be donated. (online donation link?)

We urge members of the Toronto community to join us in solidarity as we come together to support our brothers and sisters in Chile during this difficult time. No matter how small, every contribution will make a difference in the lives of those affected by this tragedy.

For more information, volunteer at the event, or donate contact (647) 244-6942 or chileunidotoronto@gmail.com

Let us stand together in solidarity with Chile.
