Chayanne’s Bailemos Otra Vez Tour is set to electrify the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto tonight at 8 p.m. The celebrated Puerto Rican singer and actor, whose real name is Elmer Figueroa Arce, adopted the stage name Chayanne as a tribute to his mother’s love for the 1950s American TV series, “Cheyenne.”

Chayanne’s music career spans sweeping orchestral pop to infectious bachata rhythms. With over 30 million albums sold worldwide and multiple entries on the Top 200 charts, his influence in Latin pop is profound. His early career included being a member of the group Los Chicos, which became popular across Latin America and rivaled Menudo, after he was initially deemed too young to join the latter.

Chayanne launched his solo career in 1984, debuting with Chayanne es mi Nombre under RCA Víctor. By 1987, he had signed with Sony Music, and his breakout self-titled album featured chart-topping hits like “Peligro de Amor” and “Fiesta en America.” His musical prowess earned him four Grammy-nominated albums, beginning with the success of his 1988 album Chayanne.

His 13th studio album, Mi Tiempo, released in 2007, achieved significant acclaim, debuting at number two on the Top Latin Albums chart. The single “Si Nos Quedara Poco Tiempo” reached the top of the Hot Latin Tracks chart and was followed by a major international tour. In 2014, En Todo Estaré topped the Latin Albums chart, further cementing his legendary status.

After nearly a decade without a new album, Chayanne released Bailemos Otra Vez in October 2023. This return to recording continues his legacy of captivating audiences with his passionate performances.
