Canelo continued his dominance in super middleweight division with a unanimous decision win over Berlanga, retaining his WBO and WBC 168 pound titles. From the start, Alvarez showed his superior skill, landing a powerful left hand in the third round that set the tone. In the fifth round, tensions flared when Alvarez reacted to a low blow, leading to an exchange while the referee intervened.

Despite Berlanga’s toughness and willingness to stand his ground, Alvarez remained in control throughout, landing key punches and looking for a knockout in the eighth round after a head-butt. Berlanga, in his first professional defeat, faced a significant step up in competition against Alvarez, who has fought some of the biggest names in boxing.

Alvarez’s win follows his victory over Jaime Munguia in May and highlights his continued dominance, even in his mid-30s. Looking ahead, a potential rematch with Dmitry Bivol, who defeated Alvarez in a 2022 light heavyweight title fight , is on the table. However, Bovol has expressed little interest in an immediate rematch, focusing on his own upcoming fight with Artur Beterbiev in October. If Bivol wins, a future mega fight with Alvarez could be possible.
