Braian Nahuel Paiz, a Buenos Aires-based waiter, has been arrested in connection with the death of former One Directionsinger Liam Payne. Paiz is accused of providing cocaine to Payne, who fell to his death from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel after consuming cocaine and whiskey throughout the day.
Paiz, who admitted to partying with Payne twice in the days before his death, denies selling him drugs and claims he is being treated as a scapegoat. He faces 4 to 15 years in prison if convicted. Authorities arrested him at his home in Buenos Aires, where he was under house arrest.
Four others, including Payne’s friend Roger Nores and hotel employees Ezequiel Pereyra, Gilda Martín, and Esteban Grassi, have also been charged in connection with the incident.
The case has drawn significant attention, and Paiz, along with eyewitnesses, is featured in the Hulu documentary TMZ Investigates: Liam Payne: Who’s to Blame?
