This month’s Hunter’s Moon, also a supermoon, will reach its peak on Thursday, making it the brightest Hunter’s Moon since 2007. A supermoon occurs when the full moon is at its closest point to Earth, appearing about 14% larger and brighter than usual. According to NASA, the moon will officially be full at 7:26 a.m. on Thursday, but it will appear full for about three days around that time.
For those in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Mississauga, the best viewing conditions are expected Thursday evening, with clear skies and a low temperature of 4°C. The moonrise in the area will be at 6:29 p.m. on Thursday. If missed, another supermoon, the last of 2024, is set to occur on November 15.
