Air Transat is expanding its wings in Latin America with a new direct connection between Canada and Colombia. On November 1, the airline officially launched its inaugural flight from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) in Medellín, with a stop in Cartagena (CTG).

The exclusive Toronto–Cartagena–Medellín route operates twice weekly year-round, giving Canadians convenient access to two of Colombia’s most exciting destinations — the colorful Caribbean charm of Cartagena and the vibrant, mountain-surrounded energy of Medellín.

“With this inaugural flight to Medellín, Air Transat is opening a new chapter in its expansion in Latin America,” said Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer. “This unprecedented route perfectly illustrates our ambition to broaden the horizons of Canadian travellers and once again demonstrates Air Transat’s innovation and pioneering role in leisure travel.”

The launch strengthens Air Transat’s South American network, boosting winter service to Cartagena while marking the airline’s first year-round operation on this route. Beginning in summer 2026, Air Transat plans to extend the same connection from Montreal (YUL), creating a year-round Montreal–Cartagena–Medellín service.

Flights are operated using the Airbus A321LR, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. The aircraft features two cabin options — Economy Class and Club Class, offering travelers a comfortable and modern onboard experience.

This new route not only connects Canadians to Colombia’s cultural and natural beauty but also highlights Air Transat’s growing commitment to Latin America — opening doors for tourism, business, and cultural exchange between the two regions.
