Netflix is set to produce a documentary about the life and career of iconic Mexican singer and queer legend Juan Gabriel. The documentary, created in collaboration with his estate, will feature exclusive archival materials and his music. Directed by María José Cuevas and produced by Mezcla, the film will be shot in Mexico and the U.S., starting production next year. Juan Gabriel’s son, Iván Aguilera, expressed excitement over sharing his father’s true story through this project. Previously, Juan Gabriel’s life was dramatized in the telenovela Hasta que te conocí, chronicling his journey from poverty to global fame.
