The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the cause of death as hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

Born in Scarborough, Toronto, on December 7, 1979, Bauza grew up to become one of the most recognizable voices in animation, even if millions of fans never knew his face.

Over a career spanning more than two decades, he accumulated hundreds of acting credits, working with some of the biggest names in entertainment.

His impressive list of characters included:

  • Bugs Bunny

The Man Behind Some of the World’s Most Famous Cartoons

Taking over the voices of characters made famous by legendary voice actor Mel Blanc was no small responsibility.

But Bauza embraced the challenge, helping introduce Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes gang to an entirely new generation.

His remarkable talent earned him three Children’s & Family Emmy Awards and widespread recognition throughout the animation industry.

Despite his Hollywood success, his journey began right here in Toronto.

Hollywood Mourns a Canadian Talent

News of Bauza’s sudden passing has prompted tributes from fellow actors, producers and fans around the world.

His manager, Judy Coppage, described his death as a devastating loss for his family, the animation industry and the countless people who enjoyed his work.

For generations, Bugs Bunny has been one of the most recognizable characters in entertainment. Bauza helped ensure that the character’s humour, personality and unmistakable voice continued to entertain audiences worldwide.

From growing up in Scarborough to becoming the voice behind some of animation’s most beloved characters, Bauza built a career that few could have imagined.

He was only 46.

His voice, however, will continue entertaining generations to come.
