It was a historic night in Bangkok, Thailand, as Tanzania’s Jihan Dimack was crowned Miss Grand International 2026, becoming the first African woman to win the prestigious international beauty pageant.
The grand finale, held on October 10, brought together approximately 80 contestants from around the world, but it was Tanzania and Ecuador that stole the spotlight.
Standing alongside Dimack during the final announcement was Ecuador’s Shyare Andrade, who finished as first runner-up, giving Latin America plenty to celebrate.
🇪🇨 Ecuador Comes Incredibly Close to the Crown
For Ecuador, the night belonged to 23-year-old Shyare Andrade, who delivered one of the country’s strongest performances in Miss Grand International history.
Originally from Portoviejo, Andrade impressed throughout the competition, earning widespread support from pageant fans.
She also captured two major fan-driven honours, Country’s Power of the Year and Miss Popular Vote, helping secure her place among the finalists.
Her second-place finish matched Ecuador’s previous best result, achieved by Andrea Aguilera in 2021.

For Tanzania, Dimack’s victory was much bigger than another beauty pageant crown.
The experienced model, who previously represented Tanzania at Miss Universe, became the first African contestant to win Miss Grand International since the competition began.
Her victory also ended the Philippines’ hopes of securing a third consecutive title, as she succeeded reigning queen Emma Mary Tiglao.
🌎 Latin America Makes Its Presence Felt
Ecuador wasn’t the only Latin American country celebrating a strong performance.
Guatemala’s Ximena Carrillo finished fourth overall, earning the third runner-up position.
Meanwhile, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Cuba and Venezuela all had representatives among the fifth runners-up.
The final Top 5 standings were:
