Toronto’s Latin Talent Gets the Spotlight at Live Nation’s “Ones to Watch”
Toronto’s next wave of Latin talent took centre stage on Tuesday, October 6, as Live Nation Canada presented Ones to Watch featuring Pato Vela and PRIMO at The Lounge at Live Nation, located at 2 Snooker Street.
The showcase gave both artists a platform in a city where Latin music continues to build its presence—and gave audiences an opportunity to discover artists developing their own sound.
PRIMO, a Colombian-Canadian artist from Toronto, draws inspiration from his connections to both countries. He has described how time spent in Colombia shaped his love for reggaeton and Latin culture, while his album Prophecy, produced by Just Ideas, earned a mention in the JUNO Awards’ guide to Latin music in Canada.
Sharing the bill was Pato Vela, bringing another emerging voice into the spotlight through a showcase built around music discovery.
These opportunities are part of a bigger story for Latin music in Canada. Ricky Taco, Live Nation Canada’s Director of Latin Music, leads the company’s national Latin touring strategy and has previously been credited with organizing a Latin Ones to Watch showcase featuring Aiona Santana and Esco. His work reflects an ongoing effort to create more opportunities for Latin artists and connect them with wider audiences.
For us at Toronto Latinos, seeing emerging artists get this kind of platform is something worth celebrating. Our community has talent, stories and sounds to share—and nights like Ones to Watch give more people a chance to hear them.
Keep PRIMO and Pato Vela on your radar.
