Puerto Rican star Jay Wheeler has another major hit on his hands.

Wheeler’s “De Lejitos” has officially reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, climbing from No. 2 to the top position on the chart dated August 29, 2026.

The song also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, giving Wheeler a double victory at Latin radio.

For the Puerto Rican singer known as “La Voz Favorita,” the achievement adds another major milestone to what has already been a huge year.

“De Lejitos” Goes From Fan Favourite to No. 1

Released earlier this year, “De Lejitos” quickly became one of the standout songs from Wheeler’s latest album, La Voz Favorita.

The track began generating attention online before developing into a major streaming and radio hit.

According to Wheeler’s team, “De Lejitos” debuted inside YouTube’s global Top 3 and generated more than 1.5 million Spotify streams during its first 24 hours.

The original song and its remix have since generated more than 229 million combined streams.

The Recording Industry Association of America has also certified the song Latin Platinum.

Now, after previously reaching No. 2 on Latin Airplay, “De Lejitos” has completed its climb to the top.

Another Billboard No. 1 for Jay Wheeler

The achievement gives Wheeler his fourth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart.

His first came in 2021 with “Viendo El Techo.”

More recently, Wheeler joined J Balvin on “Si Te Vas,” which reached No. 1 on Latin Airplay earlier in 2026.

But “De Lejitos” is particularly significant because it puts Wheeler at the top with one of the defining songs from his own latest project.

Wheeler told Billboard that reaching No. 1 fills him with pride, describing the accomplishment as another dream achieved alongside his team.

Jay Wheeler Continues a Huge 2026

Wheeler has built his career by occupying a slightly different space within Puerto Rico’s urban music scene.

While reggaeton and Latin trap remain central to the genre, Wheeler has become particularly known for combining urbano with romantic lyrics, R&B influences and his signature melodic vocals.

That approach has helped him build an enormous global audience.

His team says Wheeler has now accumulated more than 14 billion global streams and nearly 30 million followers across social media.

The success of “De Lejitos” shows that his audience is translating into more than streaming numbers.

It’s now dominating Latin radio as well.

And with “De Lejitos” sitting at No. 1 on both Latin Airplay and Latin Rhythm Airplay, La Voz Favorita is officially sitting on top of Billboard again.
