Karol G Just Knocked Bad Bunny From No. 1 After an Incredible 77-Week Run

At this point, Karol G reaching No. 1 is starting to feel almost normal.

But what she just accomplished is anything but.

The Colombian superstar’s new album, No Me Arrepiento De Sentir Tanto, has officially debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, giving Karol another major milestone during an already enormous year.

And there’s an interesting twist.

Karol G’s arrival at the top ended Bad Bunny’s 77-week run at No. 1 on the chart — yet another reminder of just how dominant these two artists have become in Latin music.

The new project also made serious noise outside the Latin charts.

No Me Arrepiento De Sentir Tanto debuted inside the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, putting a predominantly Spanish-language album alongside some of the biggest releases in the entire U.S. music industry.

That’s important.

Because Karol G isn’t simply competing within Latin music anymore.

She’s competing in music. Period.

The 14-track album arrived August 7 and features collaborations with some enormous names, including Drake and Bruno Mars, along with Spanish artists Judeline and Rusowsky and Greg Gonzalez of Cigarettes After Sex.

Fans in Los Angeles recently got an even bigger surprise when Karol brought Bruno Mars onstage at SoFi Stadium to perform their collaboration “Still” together for the first time.

It’s all part of what has become an incredible run for the Medellín-born superstar.

Karol has already gone from dominating reggaeton to selling out stadiums, headlining major festivals and becoming one of the most recognizable Latin artists on the planet.

Her 2023 album Mañana Será Bonito made history when it became the first all-Spanish-language album by a female artist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Then came Tropicoqueta.

Now, barely a year later, she’s already back with another album sitting on top of Billboard’s Latin chart.

And Toronto actually played a small role in the beginning of this latest chapter.

Karol G first revealed the title and August 7 release date for No Me Arrepiento De Sentir Tanto during her July 29 concert in Toronto, telling the crowd that she’d been secretly working on new music for months.

Less than three weeks later, that album is No. 1.

For Colombian fans, there’s obviously another layer to all of this.

One of the biggest artists in the world right now isn’t simply a Latina breaking into the mainstream.

She’s a Colombian woman from Medellín who has managed to take Spanish-language music to places that, not very long ago, seemed incredibly difficult for Latin artists to reach.

And she hasn’t had to stop being Karol G to do it.

Another album.

Another No. 1.

Another reminder that Karol G isn’t chasing the biggest artists in the world anymore.

She’s one of them.
