Becky G’s debut as the opening act for Karol G’s Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour has fans talking—but not just because of her performance.

The singer kicked off her run on the tour during the July 29 stop at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium, marking the first time she joined Karol G as the opening act. While Becky G delivered an energetic performance to thousands of fans, social media quickly shifted its attention to another topic: the noticeable number of empty seats throughout the stadium during her set.

Photos and videos shared online showed several sections that had yet to fill in, leading many fans to express disappointment over what they saw as a lack of support for the Mexican-American star. Several posts encouraged concertgoers attending future tour dates to arrive earlier and show their support, arguing that Becky G has earned a much larger audience after years of producing global hits and representing the Latin music community on the world stage.

Others pointed out that it’s common for stadium crowds to continue arriving while opening acts are performing, especially at large venues where fans often spend time entering the stadium, buying food and merchandise, or waiting closer to the headliner’s set. By the time Karol G took the stage later in the evening, the stadium appeared significantly fuller.

Despite the online discussion, Becky G’s performance was well received by those in attendance, with fans praising her stage presence, vocals and hit-filled setlist. For many, it was a rare opportunity to see one of Latin pop’s biggest stars perform before one of the most anticipated tours of the year.

Whether the empty seats reflected late arrivals or something else, one thing is clear: Becky G’s Toronto debut on the Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour has become one of the most talked-about moments from the opening night of her run with Karol G.
