Toronto’s bachata fans showed up in full force Friday night as Romeo Santos and Prince Royce brought their highly anticipated Mejor Tarde Que Nunca Tour to Scotiabank Arena.

Throughout the evening, both artists took moments to celebrate the diversity of the Latin community in attendance. During a series of shoutouts to countries across Latin America, the loudest reactions came from fans proudly representing the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, El Salvador, and countless other nations that make up Toronto’s vibrant Latino population.

The atmosphere inside Scotiabank Arena felt less like a concert and more like a celebration of Latin culture. Thousands of fans sang every lyric, danced in the aisles, and erupted into deafening screams at nearly every move from the two bachata superstars. A smile, a wink, a dance move, or a vocal run was enough to send the crowd into a frenzy.

The tour’s title, Mejor Tarde Que Nunca (“Better Late Than Never”), is fitting for two of bachata’s biggest names. Despite years of being viewed as friendly rivals and helping bring Dominican bachata to a global audience, this marks the first major collaborative tour between Santos and Royce.

For more than two hours, the pair shared a massive multi-level stage, trading hits back and forth while performing fan favourites from their individual catalogs as well as songs from their collaborative project. The production featured impressive visuals, including a New York City-inspired backdrop complete with skyline imagery and subway scenes, highlighting the genre’s deep roots in Dominican-American culture.

While their music shares similar themes of love and heartbreak, the artists brought distinctly different energies to the stage. Prince Royce delivered his signature charm and smooth vocals on classics like “Darte un Beso” and “Corazón Sin Cara,” while Romeo Santos showcased his theatrical stage presence with explosive performances of songs such as “Noche de Sexo” and “Propuesta Indecente.”

One of the loudest moments of the night came when Santos revisited his Aventura roots. As the opening notes of “Obsesión” filled the arena, thousands of fans instantly joined in, creating one of the evening’s biggest singalongs.

The chemistry between the two stars was undeniable, as they joked with one another, engaged with fans, and celebrated the music that has helped make bachata one of the most beloved genres in Latin music.

By the end of the night, one thing was clear: Toronto was ready for this moment. Scotiabank Arena transformed into a giant bachata party, proving once again that the city remains one of North America’s most passionate destinations for Latin music.
