Yolanda Saldívar Won’t Be Released — Next Hearing Set for 2030

More than three decades after the tragic loss of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, the case continues to resonate.

Yolanda Saldívar, the woman convicted of her murder, has once again been denied parole by Texas authorities on April 11, 2026. The decision ensures she will remain in prison, extending a sentence that has stood since 1995.

Saldívar, who was once president of Selena’s fan club and managed parts of her business operations, is serving a life sentence. She first became eligible for parole in March 2025 after completing 30 years, but that request was denied—and now, so has her latest appeal.

According to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, the severity of the crime and concerns about public safety were key factors in the decision. Reports indicate that Saldívar is still considered a potential risk, which weighed heavily in the outcome.

The ruling aligns with the wishes of Selena’s family, who have consistently maintained that justice must continue for the loss of the beloved artist.

Saldívar, now 65, will not be eligible for another parole review until at least 2030.

Selena was just 23 years old when she was killed on March 31, 1995, at the height of her career. Her influence, however, has never faded. Through her music and cultural impact, she remains one of the most iconic figures in Latin music history—bridging generations and borders long after her passing.
