March 2026 Feature

At Toronto Latinos, our community is full of inspiring people doing incredible things in sports, business, culture, and leadership. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new feature on our website: Latin@ of the Month — a space dedicated to highlighting individuals who are making a real impact and helping move our community forward.

We’re proud to kick off the series with Lorenzo Redwood, a respected figure in the Canadian soccer and futsal scene whose passion for the game has shaped the careers of countless young athletes.

Born in Ecuador, Redwood has been involved in soccer since a young age and has spent the last 20 years coaching and developing players across the Greater Toronto Area. Today, he serves as Assistant Coach of the Canadian National Futsal Team, Head Coach of the Toronto Crusaders in the MLIS Arena League, Assistant Coach at Humber College, and Head Coach at Toronto Idolo. He also works with Ontario Soccer, helping educate and develop coaches in futsal across the province. His experience also includes coaching on the international stage, serving three times as Head Coach at The Soccer Tournament (TST) $1 Million event in the United States, while also travelling internationally with the Canadian National Futsal Team.

Through his Redwood Elite training program, Lorenzo works closely with young athletes, specializing in futsal development and helping players sharpen their technical ability, decision-making, and creativity on the ball. Over the years, he has coached and mentored hundreds of athletes, many of whom have gone on to compete at high levels.

“For me, it’s always been about giving back to the game that gave me so much. Futsal teaches creativity, discipline, and confidence — and seeing young players grow on and off the court is what drives me every day.”

Redwood’s credentials reflect his dedication to the sport. He holds a Futsal Coaching Certificate from Portugal and is FIFA-certified in futsal, bringing international knowledge and experience back to the local game in Toronto.

“It’s bigger than soccer — it’s about building people.”

His lifelong commitment to developing players and growing futsal in Canada makes him the perfect choice for our first-ever Latin@ of the Month feature.

Stay tuned as we continue to highlight inspiring members of our community — because our culture is driven by people who lead, build, and give back. We’re currently working on a ‘Latin@ of the Month’ section on our website as well. Stay tuned.
