Chet Hanks is having a travel saga — and the internet is loving every minute of it.
The 35-year-old actor revealed via Instagram that he’s currently stuck in Medellín, Colombia after attempting to fly back to the United States using his Greek passport. As a dual citizen, Chet said he left his U.S. passport at home because it was close to expiring.
The problem? Airport officials reportedly told him that traveling on a foreign passport would require a green card to re-enter the U.S. — which he doesn’t have because, well, he’s American.
“I’m literally stuck in Colombia,” he said in the video, adding that the nearest U.S. embassy able to help is in Bogotá — a trip he seemed less than thrilled to make.
While Chet appeared relatively calm (and continued posting party clips), social media quickly flooded with references to his father, Tom Hanks, and his iconic stranded roles in Cast Away and The Terminal.

Fans joked about FedEx mishaps and airport limbo, turning his passport dilemma into a pop-culture moment.
For now, Chet remains in Medellín — which, as he admitted, could be worse places to be stuck.
