Romeo Santos used his moment on stage at Premio Lo Nuestro 2026 in Miami to publicly reaffirm his unwavering support for the Latino community amid ongoing immigration enforcement tensions in the United States.
Though he did not directly mention ICE during his speech, the bachata icon made his stance clear. Accepting his award for Tropical Artist of the Year — and following a live performance at the ceremony — Santos addressed criticism he faced last year over comments about immigration.
“I’m not always going to have the perfect speech,†he said in Spanish. “But those who know me understand that I always advocate for my Latino community.â€
He went further, stating firmly that no organization that harms the Latino community would ever earn his respect. The remarks echoed similar statements he made in December after facing backlash from a prior interview.
Santos joins other artists such as Bad Bunny, Cardi B, and SZA who have publicly voiced support for immigrant communities.
With nearly three decades in music, Santos made it clear: his platform will continue to reflect solidarity with the Latino community.
