The 2025/26 Red Bull Cerro Abajo season rolled into its second stop this weekend at the legendary Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo in Valparaíso, Chile — and it delivered pure chaos in the best way possible.

Thirty-four of the world’s top urban downhill riders attacked the 1.65km course, packed with nearly 280 stairs, wallrides, jumps, steep gradients and a 230-metre vertical drop through the city’s iconic graffiti-covered streets.

Colombian Sebastián Holguín stole the show, clocking a blistering record time of 2:15.432 to claim victory. France’s Adrien Loron finished second, while Chile’s Felipe Agurto thrilled the home crowd with a podium finish in third.

Holguín’s win was even more impressive considering the stacked field, which included four-time champion Tomáš Slavík and former winners Pedro Ferreira and Roger Vieira. Slavík, chasing a record fifth Valparaíso win, ultimately finished fifth but praised the rising level of competition.

At just 21 years old, Holguín became the first Colombian to win the event since Marcelo Gutiérrez in 2013. “This is the biggest urban downhill race in the world,” he said. “To win it is just amazing.”

With Brazilian Roger Vieira having won the season opener in Geneva, the overall title now hangs in the balance heading into the final stop in Italy this summer.

Urban downhill? Still one of the wildest spectacles in action sports.
