Marcello Hernández — one of Saturday Night Live’s breakout stars — is leveling up. The 28-year-old comedian has announced his first-ever stand-up special, “American Boy,” premiering January 7 on Netflix.
Filmed in front of a packed hometown crowd in Miami, American Boy sees Hernández dive into his life as a first-generation American, blending sharp observational humor with stories tied to his Cuban and Dominican roots. The special is directed by Nicholaus Goossen and executive produced by Hernández and Matthew Vaughan, with Rotten Science producing.
Since joining SNL in 2022, Hernández has quickly become a fan favorite. His hilarious character Domingo — and his spot-on celebrity impressions like Sebastian Maniscalco — have cemented him as one of the show’s brightest rising stars.
Beyond SNL, Hernández is stacking major credits: he recently appeared in Happy Gilmore 2 with Adam Sandler, the Michelle Williams miniseries Dying for Sex, and has upcoming voice roles in Shrek 5 and The Angry Birds Movie 3. He’ll also be featured in the comedy film 72 Hours alongside Teyana Taylor and Kevin Hart.
With momentum like this, American Boy is set to be a milestone moment in Hernández’s fast-rising career.
