Tensions erupted at a Miss Universe 2025 pre-pageant event in Thailand after a top official, Nawat Itsaragrisil, publicly insulted Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, calling her “dumb” for not posting sponsor content — and ordering security to remove her.
The exchange, captured on a livestream, showed Itsaragrisil singling out Bosch in front of fellow contestants. When Bosch tried to respond, he cut her off, prompting her to say he was not “respecting me as a woman.” Moments later, security was called — leading several contestants, including reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark, to walk out in solidarity.
“I’m not afraid to make my voice heard,” Bosch said later. “We’re in the 21st century — I’m not a doll. I came here to be a voice for women and girls who fight for causes.”
Miss Universe president Raúl Rocha Cantú condemned the incident, calling it “unacceptable” and stating that “no woman deserves to be insulted or humiliated.” The Miss Universe Organization added that Itsaragrisil’s behavior “does not represent” the MUO’s values of respect and empowerment.
Itsaragrisil has since issued an apology, saying, “If anyone was affected, I apologise to everyone,” but the MUO confirmed his role in the event has now been restricted.
The Miss Universe 2025 pageant will take place on November 21 in Pak Kret, Thailand.
