Just after midnight, a sold-out Rogers Centre fell silent. The Toronto Blue Jays’ incredible season ended one win short of glory — a 5–4 extra-inning loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 of the World Series.
Toronto led 3–0 early and 4–2 late, but three L.A. home runs — including Will Smith’s game-winner in the 11th inning— sealed the Blue Jays’ fate and crowned the Dodgers as back-to-back champions.
“It’s hard. I feel for the guys,” said manager John Schneider. “We set a new expectation and a new standard.”
The loss stings even more after a season that reignited Toronto’s baseball passion. The Jays won 94 games, captured the AL East, and delivered countless moments — from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s brilliance to Alejandro Kirk’s consistency and Max Scherzer’s veteran fire.
They had everything — talent, chemistry, and heart — but baseball’s smallest margins decided everything.
As fans quietly filed out, one truth lingered: Toronto was just a few outs away from ending 32 years of waiting.
A loss for now — but a statement season for the future.
