Toronto Set for Summerlike October Weekend

Toronto is about to enjoy a blast of summer in October, with daytime highs more fitting for July than fall.

The city is forecast to hit 25 °C on Friday under clear skies, followed by back-to-back highs of 27 °C on Saturday and Sunday. The warmth will stretch into Monday with another 27 °C day before a sharp cool-down midweek.

For perspective, Toronto’s average October high is just 16 °C, with typical daily temperatures falling between 10 °C and 20 °C. Highs above 21 °C are unusual, making this weekend’s forecast — roughly 10 degrees above seasonal norms — a rare event.

Warm October stretches aren’t unheard of, but they’re not common. The city briefly hit 24 °C in October 2020 and 23 °C in 2021. Still, three straight days above 25 °C puts this weekend among the warmest early-October runs on record.

What’s Next

The warmth will hold through Monday, but a shift is on the way. Rain is expected Tuesday as highs slip to 22 °C, with temperatures returning to the mid-teens by midweek — much closer to historical averages.

On average, Toronto sees 11 rainy days and about 91 mm of precipitation in October, a reminder that the season is about to settle into its more familiar rhythm.
