Canada’s men’s national team (FIFA #30) will host Colombia (FIFA #14) in a friendly on October 14, 2025, at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey.

Coach Jesse Marsch echoed the stakes:

“Colombia is the type of high-level opponent that we want to be competing against as we continue our preparations for the upcoming World Cup.”

Canada’s September Momentum

Canada already completed two friendlies in September with strong results:

  • Sept 5 vs Romania – Canada won 3–0 in Bucharest. Scorers: Jonathan David (11’), Ali Ahmed (22’), Niko Sigur (77’)

  • Sept 9 vs Wales – Canada won 1-0 in Wales.

These wins give Canada confidence heading into the Colombia match.

Colombia’s World Cup Qualifying & Star Talent

Colombia recently qualified directly for the 2026 World Cup after a 3–0 victory over Bolivia in Barranquilla. Goals came from James Rodríguez, Jhon Córdoba, and Juan Fernando Quintero.

The squad also includes experienced and top-tier names:

  • James Rodríguez remains a key figure in midfield.

  • Luis Díaz is another attacking force, and

  • Defensive talents like Davinson Sánchez, Jhon Lucumí, Daniel Muñoz, and Yerry Mina are regulars.

  • Goalkeepers include David Ospina, Camilo Vargas, and Álvaro Montero.

Colombia’s qualification and depth make them a formidable opponent for Canada, offering a sharp test before the World Cup preparations intensify.
