Heightened Security at Bad Bunny’s Final Night in San Juan After Reported Threat

Bad Bunny’s historic Puerto Rico residency ended on a high note with surprise guest performances from Marc Anthony, Ñengo Flow, Jowell y Randy, Arcángel, and De La Ghetto — but behind the scenes, security at el Choli was on high alert.

According to Puerto Rican journalist Jay Fonseca, authorities responded to a credible death threat made against the reggaetón superstar. An unidentified individual allegedly shared messages online expressing an intent to kill the rapper. Federal security teams were reportedly present during the final night of the residency (Sept. 20), tightening restrictions at the venue to protect the 31-year-old star.

Fonseca said the suspect appeared to be armed and dealing with “serious issues,” though details about any arrest remain unclear.

This isn’t the first time Bad Bunny has faced threats. Earlier this year, U.S. prosecutors linked Arizona man Mark Adams Prieto — indicted for plotting a racially motivated mass shooting — to Bad Bunny’s May tour stops in Atlanta.

Despite the looming danger, Bad Bunny’s closing night was a celebration of Puerto Rico, filled with tributes, collaborations, and an emotional performance of “Preciosa” with Marc Anthony. Still, the incident underscores the heightened risks global artists face on tour — and the extreme measures required to keep both performers and fans safe.
