“Incalculable Price”: Trump Issues Ultimatum to Venezuela Over Migrants and Drug War

US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Venezuela on Saturday, threatening “incalculable” consequences if the country does not immediately take back immigrants he described as “prisoners” and “people from mental institutions.”

“GET THEM THE HELL OUT OF OUR COUNTRY, RIGHT NOW, OR THE PRICE YOU PAY WILL BE INCALCULABLE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, accusing Caracas—without evidence—of deliberately sending dangerous individuals into the United States. He claimed “thousands of people” had already been harmed by these so-called “monsters.”

The remarks come just one day after Trump announced another US Navy strike against a vessel he said originated from Venezuela, killing three men described as “narco-terrorists.” The strike was the latest in a controversial US anti-drug campaign in the Caribbean that has destroyed multiple boats and killed at least 17 people since early September.

Venezuela has accused Washington of waging an “undeclared war” and called on the United Nations to investigate the naval strikes, which legal experts warn may amount to extrajudicial killings.

Meanwhile, the US has launched its largest military buildup in the Caribbean in decades, deploying seven warships, a nuclear-powered submarine, and F-35 fighter jets to international waters off Venezuela’s coast, with additional aircraft stationed in Puerto Rico. While Trump insists the mission is focused on drug interdiction, critics argue it reflects broader geopolitical goals.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who faces a $50 million US reward for information leading to his arrest, has denied all links to drug trafficking. He has pledged to mobilize more than four million militia fighters in response to Washington’s threats and recently oversaw nationwide weapons drills led by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.

Despite the heated rhetoric, Reuters reports that Maduro sent a personal letter to Trump earlier this month offering direct talks—signaling that, even amid escalating tensions, a diplomatic opening may still exist.
