Karol G Turns the NFL Halftime Show Into a Tropicoqueta Fiesta in Brazil

Karol G just made NFL history — Tropicoqueta style. The Colombian superstar brought pure Latina energy to São Paulo on Friday night (Sept. 5), headlining the halftime show for the season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.

Live-streamed from Corinthians Arena on the NFL’s YouTube channel, Karol kicked off her set by surprising fans with verses in Portuguese before turning up the heat in Spanish with “Bandida Entrenada.”

“¡Arriba mi gente latina!” she shouted, electrifying the crowd.

The queen of Bichota Season was serving looks too: a brown-and-yellow miniskirt with pineapple bra cups, backed by a stage full of dancers, female percussionists, and a lambada-inspired groove that had Brazil on its feet. Her medley included fan favorites like “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” “Un Gatito Me Llamó,” and “Papasito” (delivered half in English, half in Spanish). Fireworks and golden pom-poms sealed the explosive finale.

Earlier in the day, Karol shared her excitement on Instagram: “After a long time, I return to one of my favorite places in the world, where, no matter what, I feel completely happy: The stage! … It has all my soul and heart.”

This halftime show wasn’t just a performance — it was a cultural crossover moment. With Karol representing Latin music, Brazilian artist Ana Castela performing Brazil’s national anthem, and Kamasi Washington giving jazz flair to the U.S. anthem, the NFL leaned all the way into global vibes.

Karol G proved once again she’s not just performing — she’s rewriting the halftime show playbook, one Tropicoqueta beat at a time.
