Road Closures, Concerts & Culture: Toronto’s Jam-Packed Summer Send-Off

Toronto is closing out the summer with one last festival-packed weekend — and with it comes plenty of road closures and transit slowdowns.

From Sankofa Day at the new Sankofa Square to the Yorkville Murals Festival, the Toronto Korean Festival at Mel Lastman Square, and FAN EXPO Canada at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the city is buzzing with major cultural moments. Not to mention, the CNE continues to draw huge crowds, and music history is being made as Oasis reunites for back-to-back shows at Rogers Stadium.

The trade-off? Expect road restrictions across Yonge Street, Yorkville, Wilson Avenue, Sheppard, Front Street, Bremner Boulevard, and near the CNE grounds — all weekend long.

While the closures may test your patience, the City emphasizes that these festivals bring invaluable cultural and economic benefits. So whether you’re heading to an art installation, a K-pop dance battle, or standing shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands of Oasis fans, give yourself extra time, ditch the car if you can, and lean into Toronto’s end-of-summer energy.
