Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier Flair Airlines is shaking up the North American travel market with new direct flights linking Mexico City (AICM) to Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR) starting late October 2025. The airline will be the first budget carrier to offer non-stop service on these routes, taking on industry heavyweights Aeroméxico and Air Canada with fares starting at just CAD $141.

“Flights to Mexico City have been out of reach for too many,” said Flair CEO Maciej Wilk. “We’re changing that.” The airline promises the same low-fare model that has made its leisure routes to Cancún, Guadalajara, and Puerto Vallarta successful.

• Vancouver – Mexico City: Launches Oct. 27, 2025, three weekly flights (Mon, Fri, Sun)

• Toronto – Mexico City: Launches Oct. 28, 2025, three weekly flights (Tue, Thu, Sat)

Mexican Consul General in Canada Luis Hernandez hailed the move as a boost to cultural and economic ties, calling it a step that will “connect families, businesses and curious travellers.”

Despite new visa requirements for Mexican visitors to Canada introduced in 2024, Wilk says the demand for Mexico-Canada flights remains strong. “I’m not concerned,” he said.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Edmonton, Flair has grown from cargo and charter operations into a disruptive force in Canadian air travel, offering ultra-low fares to destinations across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America.
