Toronto Braces for Scorching Heat with Humidex Near 41°C

July 28, 2025

Toronto is in the grip of yet another intense summer heat wave, with temperatures expected to feel like 41°C this afternoon, according to Environment Canada. The national weather agency issued a heat warning for the city, warning that the hottest conditions will peak Monday and Tuesday.

Today’s high will reach 33°C, but extreme humidity will push the humidex well past 40. Tuesday won’t offer much relief either, with a high of 31°C expected—feeling more like 38°C. Even nighttime temperatures between 19°C and 21°C will offer little respite.

The heat warning comes with a strong public health advisory: stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, and look out for signs of heat exhaustion—such as dizziness, nausea, headache, or fatigue. Officials urge people to seek out cooler indoor areas like libraries, community centres, and designated cooling spaces.

Relief is on the horizon, though. A cooldown is expected to arrive late Wednesday, with Thursday bringing a more seasonal high of 26°C.

Looking ahead to the long weekend, Torontonians can expect sunshine and ideal summer weather, with daytime highs ranging from 25°C to 27°C from Friday through Sunday.
