After taking a 2-0 series lead, the Toronto Maple Leafs now face elimination Friday night (8 p.m. ET, TNT) in Game 6 against the Florida Panthers — a stunning reversal that has them trailing 3-2 in the second-round series.

Odds Are Against Toronto
According to ESPN BET, the Panthers are now -800 favorites to win the series, while the Leafs sit at +500. Florida’s Stanley Cup odds have shortened to +300, while Toronto has plummeted to +2500.

Historic Trends Favor Florida

  • Florida is 5-1 all time when leading a series 3-2.

  • Toronto, meanwhile, is just 6-18 when facing a 3-2 deficit.

  • A Game 7, if forced, would be Sunday in Toronto.

Panthers’ Depth Shines
In Game 5, 14 different Florida skaters registered points — a franchise playoff record. Seventeen Panthers have scored at least one goal this postseason, breaking a club record set in 1996.

Sam Reinhart continues to be a playoff standout with his fourth multipoint game, joining just five others in the league to reach that mark this postseason. Florida hasn’t trailed for a total of 170:10 — dating back to Game 3.

Maple Leafs’ Stars Go Quiet
Toronto’s top gun Auston Matthews hasn’t scored in five straight games, matching his longest playoff goal drought. Goalie Joseph Woll is expected to return to the crease after a rough Game 5, where he allowed five goals on 25 shots. Anthony Stolarz remains out.

Key Question:
Can the Leafs find a spark and push this to seven? Or will the Panthers finish the job and return to the Eastern Conference Final?
