Joaquin Niemann won LIV Golf Mexico City on Sunday with a six-under 65, marking his third victory in just six events this season. His dominant performance at Club de Golf Chapultepec gives him a commanding lead in LIV’s standings and secures him a spot in the upcoming U.S. Open at Oakmont, thanks to a new LIV exemption rule.
Niemann, energized by the Mexican crowd, credited his improved short game for the win, saying it helped him shoot low even when his overall game wasn’t perfect. He finished three shots ahead of Bryson DeChambeau and Lucas Herbert, while DeChambeau faded late in the round.
“I’m just happy I don’t have to play 36 holes on a Monday,” Niemann joked about avoiding U.S. Open qualifying.
