Selena Quintanilla’s family has expressed their relief after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles denied Yolanda Saldívar’s request for early release.

“While nothing can bring Selena back, this decision reaffirms that justice continues to stand for the beautiful life that was taken from us and from millions of fans around the world far too soon,” the family shared in a statement on Selena’s official Instagram account.

They also emphasized their commitment to preserving Selena’s memory, asking fans to focus on celebrating her life rather than the tragedy that took her.

Saldívar, who was convicted of murdering the Tejano music icon in 1995, had filed for parole in January ahead of her eligibility date on March 30. However, the board ruled against her release, setting her next review for March 2030.

Selena’s death at just 23 years old shocked the world. In the days leading up to her murder, she and her husband, Chris Pérez, had fired Saldívar as the manager of Selena’s boutiques and fan club due to financial misconduct. Despite Saldívar’s long-standing claims that she “did not intend” to kill Selena, her appeals have been denied.

Selena’s legacy, built on love, music, and inspiration, continues to thrive nearly three decades later.
