Wasaga Beach has approved the sale of 1.5 acres of waterfront land to the Sunray Group for $580,000, marking the first phase of a major hotel development aimed at revitalizing the beachfront area. The hotel, estimated at $45 million, will include below-ground parking, a waterfront restaurant, convention facilities, and retail shops.
Mayor Brian Smith emphasized that the project will boost tourism, create jobs, and support local businesses, while the town’s CAO, Andrew McNeill, called it a transformative economic development move. The deal includes a five-year tax holiday and a joint venture agreement that could yield the town up to $11 million in profit-sharing. Construction must begin by September 2026 and be substantially completed by fall 2029.
