Trudeau takes a swipe at Trump after Canada beats USA in 4 Nations final

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to social media to celebrate Canada’s victory over the USA in the final of the 4 Nations Face-Off hockey tournament.

Shortly after three-time NHL MVP Connor McDavid secured Canada’s 3-2 overtime win in Boston, Trudeau posted on X: “You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game.”

The remark, though brief, carried a strong and pointed message seemingly directed at former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trump has previously suggested the idea of annexing Canada and stated in his Super Bowl interview that he believes “Canada would be much better off as the 51st state.” His comments, along with an ongoing trade dispute, have fueled tensions, leading to The Star-Spangled Banner being booed at Canadian arenas.

The friction was evident during the tournament, as some U.S. fans in Boston responded by booing O Canada during Thursday night’s game. However, as the Canadians celebrated their triumph, the anthem was met with respect.

While Trump did not attend the game, he called the U.S. team in the locker room after their morning practice.
