Delta Air Lines is offering $30,000 to passengers of Flight 4819, which crashed and flipped upside down while landing in Toronto on Monday. The airline stated that this compensation has “no strings attached” and does not impact passengers’ legal rights.

  • Survivors: All 80 people on board (76 passengers, 4 crew members) survived. As of Wednesday, 20 of 21 hospitalized passengers had been released.
  • Crash Description: Passengers reported a hard landing, with the plane skidding on its side before flipping. One passenger recalled unbuckling his seatbelt and falling onto the ceiling, which had become the floor.
  • Investigation & Response: The crash is being investigated by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, with U.S. aviation authorities assisting. First responders arrived within minutes, executing a “textbook response.”
  • Experienced Crew: Delta CEO Ed Bastian assured that the experienced flight crew was trained for emergency situations.
