The high-profile divorce case of Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González has taken an unexpected turn with the involvement of lawyer Mariel Colón, known for defending Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Colón, along with Roberto Alonso Santiago, will now represent Mireddys and her sister, Ayeicha González, in an ongoing legal battle over control of Daddy Yankee’s business empire.

This case goes beyond a typical divorce, with disputes over corporate assets, including allegations of a failed $100 million transfer by Mireddys, which she denies. A judge recently restored Daddy Yankee’s control over his corporations and froze $75 million for financial review. Tensions have escalated, with missed court orders, accusations of noncompliance, and temporary arrest warrants for the González sisters, though they were lifted after partial cooperation. However, Daddy Yankee’s team claims key documents remain undisclosed.

The next hearing, scheduled for January 14, will address these disputes. Colón’s entry, with her background in high-stakes cases, adds intrigue and raises the stakes in a battle intertwining personal, corporate, and legal issues, potentially reshaping the reggaetón star’s career and legacy.
