The community is mourning the loss of Josue Isaac Jaramillo, a cherished soccer coach and a friend to everyone he met. Josue passed away on December 25 at the age of 36, leaving behind a legacy of passion, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the next generation.
For years, Josue served as a mentor and coach to countless young athletes, instilling in them not only a love for soccer but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Whether it was a weekend practice or the thrill of game day, Joshua was always on the field, encouraging kids to play their best and reminding them that the true victory was in giving their all.
Beyond the soccer field, Josue had a unique gift for connecting with people. Known for his warm smile and genuine kindness, he was a friend, a mentor, and a role model who could lift anyone’s spirits with a kind word or a helping hand. He believed in the power of community and made everyone feel valued and included.
His love for soccer was matched only by his love for people. Josue treated every child he coached like family, and his impact extended far beyond the game. Parents often remarked on how their children grew not just as players but as individuals under Josue’s guidance.
The loss of Josue Jaramillo is deeply felt, but his legacy will live on in the lives of the young athletes he inspired and the community he enriched with his generosity and warmth. A testament to his spirit was evident at the visitation on Jan 2 & 3 at DeMarco Funeral home in Woodbridge. On the day we were there (Jan 2nd) there were hundreds, if not a few thousand people waiting outside in line, in the frigid cold, to pay their respects to JJ and his family. The Latin community and the soccer community showed up in a huge way for JJ.
Josue, your kindness, passion, and love for people will never be forgotten. You were more than a coach; you were a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew you. Rest in peace, and thank you for the countless lives you touched.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loving significant other, Grace Baird, and his cherished children: Jadyn, Mariah, Destiny, Christian, Nathan, and Isaac; His parents, Carmen and Marco Jaramillo, and his brother, Samuel.
