Colombian reggaeton artist Karol G issued an apology after facing backlash for her song “+57,” which was criticized for sexualizing minors. The track, featuring fellow Colombian artists like J Balvin, Maluma, Feid, Ryan Castro, and Blessd, was released last Thursday and has sparked widespread condemnation. One lyric referencing a “hot mama” aged 14 drew particular criticism. Karol G, a five-time Latin Grammy winner, acknowledged her mistake on social media, stating she has “much to learn.” Colombia’s Institute for Family Welfare and President Gustavo Petro, among others, criticized the song for promoting sexual themes involving minors. The issue comes amid broader concerns over child sex abuse in Medellin, Karol G’s hometown.
