Toronto is marking Remembrance Day 2024 with ceremonies across the city.

  • Prospect Cemetery (1450 St Clair Ave. W.): Sunrise service at 8 a.m. with Mayor Olivia Chow in attendance.
  • Meadowvale Cemetery (Brampton): 8 a.m. sunrise ceremony.
  • Old City Hall Cenotaph (50 Queen St. W.): Main ceremony from 10:45 a.m. to noon with silent sentries from the 48th Highlanders of Canada and a “missing man formation” flypast at 11:05 a.m.
  • University of Toronto (Hart House Circle): Remembrance service at 10:20 a.m., marking 100 years of Soldiers’ Tower.
  • Claude Watson School for the Arts: Assembly featuring music and performances at 10:30 a.m.
  • Toronto Zoo (2000 Meadowvale Rd.): 39th annual ceremony at 10:55 a.m.; free admission for veterans and current service members in uniform.
  • Additional Sites: Services at East York Civic Centre, Etobicoke Civic Centre, York Cemetery, Scarborough War Memorial, York Civic Centre, and Fort York.

Special Observances:

  • The TTC will pause all services for two minutes of silence at 11 a.m.
  • Current Armed Forces members in uniform and veterans with service medals can ride the TTC for free.
  • The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association’s flypast will pass key points including Old City Hall, East York Civic Centre, and York Cemetery.

Road Closures:

  • Bay Street from Albert Street to Richmond Street West will be closed, with local access from Albert Street restricted to southbound traffic.
  • Queen Street West will be closed from Bay Street to just east of York Street.

The Royal Canadian Legion offers an online tool to locate ceremonies nearby, ensuring everyone can find a way to participate and honor the day.
