Amazon Prime Video and Máquina Vega, led by renowned Mexican director Gary “Gaz” Alazraki, are creating a Mexican adaptation of The Office called La Oficina, set to stream exclusively on Prime Video in Latin America, Brazil, and Spain. Alazraki, known for Nosotros los Nobles and Club de Cuervos, will direct and produce, while Marcos Bucay (Cómo Sobrevivir Soltero) serves as showrunner.

La Oficina will center on Jerónimo Ponce III, a regional manager at his family’s soap business, Jabones Olimpo, located in Aguascalientes. The series will depict the complexities of Mexican office culture through the dynamics of a family business and an ill-suited boss, promising humor and familiarity for Mexican audiences.

This adaptation adds to the global portfolio of The Office, joining previous versions from the U.S., Chile, France, and Australia, among others. Alazraki and Bucay are excited to bring a uniquely Mexican perspective to the mockumentary format. Bucay, whose background includes VGLY and viral comedy projects, expressed that The Office’s original influence led him to pursue a career in comedy. This collaboration aligns with Máquina Vega’s mission to bridge English and Spanish-speaking audiences through innovative content creation.
