Zeng Zhiying, at 58, made her Olympic debut representing Chile in table tennis, despite a loss to Lebanon’s Mariana Sahakian. Originally from China, Zeng retired at 20 and moved to Chile, where she stopped playing table tennis for decades. She began playing again during the pandemic, quickly rising to become one of South America’s top players. Zeng found her Olympic experience rewarding and hasn’t ruled out competing in future Games, though she acknowledges the challenges of doing so at her age. She remains optimistic about China’s future in producing table tennis champions due to their rigorous training system.
