Paraguay has dismissed coach Daniel Garnero following a winless Copa America campaign. The team under Garnero’s tenure lost all three group matches in the tournament against Colombia, Brazil, and Costa Rica, scoring five goals and conceding 13. Garnero, an Argentine, had only been in charge for less than a year and oversaw just 10 matches since replacing Guillermo Barros Schelotto in September.

The Paraguayan Football Association has not yet named a successor for Garnero. The national team’s next challenges will be in September for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, facing Uruguay away and Brazil at home. Paraguay currently sits seventh in the standings among the ten teams after six qualifying matches.
