Shakira, the Colombian music sensation, is set to once again provide the soundtrack for soccer, as she did for the 2006 World Cup in Germany and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. This time, she’s lending her talents to the 2024 Copa America by adapting her song “Puntería” from her latest album “Las mujeres ya no lloran,” featuring a duet with Cardi B. The choice of this song was fitting, as precision is essential in soccer, whether it’s in a pass, shot, or save.
Shakira made the announcement in New York City, accompanied by Ignacio Meyer, president of Univision Networks Group. The song will resonate throughout the tournament, running from June 20 to July 14. Alongside the announcement, a video was released featuring glimpses of Shakira’s performance, showcasing her enduring connection with the world of soccer. Further details and an official presentation are yet to come, but the excitement is palpable among fans of both Shakira and the sport.
